Bowling RVs announced the availability of its mobile RV service program, enabling certified technicians to perform repairs and maintenance directly at customers’ homes, campgrounds, storage lots, or lake sites. The Ottumwa-based dealership has operated a full service department for years and recently expanded options with this on-location service. Technicians arrive equipped to handle a range of typical RV issues without requiring the vehicle to be towed or driven in.
“Our mobile service unit handles air conditioning and furnace repairs, water heater troubleshooting, plumbing and electrical issues, slide-out and awning repairs, along with other maintenance tasks,” said Les McConnell, RV Service Technician and Shop Foreman with 39 years at Bowling RVs. “Our customers no longer need to bring the RV in for many common services. We come to where the unit is located.”
The service team includes additional technicians with varying levels of experience. Jeff Verschuure brings 17 years of RV experience, while Cody McConnell has served in a technician role. The group works on Class A, Class B, and Class C motorhomes, fifth wheels, and travel trailers from major brands.
In addition to mobile visits, the dealership maintains an in-shop service facility in Ottumwa for more extensive repairs and routine work. This dual approach provides flexibility depending on the type of service required and the customer’s situation.
“Owners often face scheduling conflicts or simply want to avoid the logistics of moving a large RV,” McConnell continued. “With mobile service, we can address seasonal preparation, de-winterization, diagnostics, and many repairs on site. The in-shop option remains available when a full service center is better suited for the job.”
Bowling RVs serves Southeast and Central Iowa, with the Ottumwa location accessible from communities such as Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Ames, and Davenport. The service reach also extends to areas near Omaha, Kansas City, and St. Louis for customers in those vicinities. The dealership notes that many RVers in the region use local parks, lakes, and campgrounds, making on-site service a practical solution during travel or storage periods.
The parts department stocks components to support both mobile and shop-based work, allowing technicians to complete many jobs efficiently during a single visit. Service advisors assist with scheduling and estimates, and the team handles work on various RV systems and appliances.
