Comfort Professor has completed a Bryant multi-zone ductless heat pump installation at the Woburn Elks Club, replacing aging heating and cooling equipment with a modern system that delivers individualized temperature control across the community organization’s multi-use facility.

The Woburn Elks Club is a long-standing community organization whose facility accommodates member gatherings, community events, private functions, and administrative offices. Its previous HVAC infrastructure included approximately ten hydronic air handlers for heating and two large rooftop cooling units. The club sought a solution that could better serve rooms with different uses and occupancy patterns while reducing reliance on older equipment.
The Woburn Elks Club custom installation incorporated nine outdoor heat pumps paired with a combination of ceiling cassette, high-wall, and ducted indoor equipment. The system serves six principal areas of the building, including the downstairs bar, a downstairs function room, an upstairs function room, an upstairs function waiting area, upstairs offices, and downstairs bathrooms and hallway.
Adapting the equipment to an older structure presented several challenges. The building features finished ceilings, concealed mechanical infrastructure, and brick walls. The installation required careful routing of refrigerant piping, condensate drainage, electrical connections, and communication wiring, along with equipment placement suited to each space.
Bobby Skinner, director of operations with Comfort Professor, described the approach taken on the job.
“The biggest goal on this project was to give the Woburn Elks Club a modern HVAC system without having to completely reconstruct an older building around it. We were working with brick walls, finished ceilings, multiple rooms and limited knowledge of what we would encounter behind existing construction. Our team designed the Bryant multi-zone system around those conditions and carefully routed and installed the equipment to provide each area with the comfort it needed. The end result is a much more flexible heating and cooling system with individual zone control, improved efficiency and a cleaner long-term solution for the club,” said Skinner.
The completed retrofit provides independent temperature control across the facility’s different areas rather than applying a single approach to rooms with varying heating and cooling demands. The project demonstrates how a combination of ductless and ducted heat pump equipment can be incorporated into an existing multi-use building without wholesale reconstruction.
Associated benefits include greater flexibility in conditioning occupied spaces, more consistent comfort, quieter operation, and reduced dependence on aging HVAC infrastructure. The installation includes a five-year commercial parts warranty and a two-year labor warranty. The contractor also reported a potential rebate or tax-credit amount of $57,000 associated with the work.
